FREE OFFERS WHILE THE SUPPLY LASTS

 

The Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum is offering free kits of instructional materials to be used in the classroom or transportation to workshops at reduced rates due to a grant from the Essex Middle River Rotary as follows: 

 

  1. The Aircraft Design Kit – (grades 3 to 5) A classroom activity to learn about the basic designs of five different aircraft and their history.  Each kit includes five InAirDiecast model planes (3.5”X4.5”):  glider (Wright 103 Flyer), tail dragger (Curtiss Jenny), prop plane (P-51 Mustang), helicopter (Apache or Night Hawk), jet (A-10 MD Air Nat’l Guard).  Also, included are instructional materials and a quiz for each aircraft, Supplemental Activities, Some Thoughts on Aircraft Design/Engineering, and an optional evaluation form.  These materials can be copied for use in the classrooms. Finally, each student will receive The Glenn L. Martin Airplane Review Coloring Book.
     

  2. The P-51 Mustang and the Tuskegee Airmen Kit (all grades)– Each kit includes one model of the P-51 Mustang (3.5” X 4.5”) instructional materials about the first group of African-American World War II pilots, and quiz.  These materials can be copied for use in the classroom.
     

  3. The B—26 Assembly Team Workshop (grades 6 to 12) – Provides $300.00 toward the cost of transportation from your school to The Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum to participate in a two-hour workshop about the impact of WWII on the community and to experience the assembly of a large scale model of the B-26 Marauder, a mid-size bomber.  Cost is $10.00 per student. Add one hour to your visit and include a trip to the outdoor flight line introducing the 15 aircraft on display and discussing the differences and improvement in aircraft for an additional charge of $2.00 per student.
